September 4 - 6 - Wood Carving at the VFW - Bland J. Rossman VFW Post 1630, 1110 East Water St., Lock Haven. 10am to dusk daily. An annual Labor Day Weekend Wood Carving event featuring numerous carvers stationed around the parking lot perimeter. Two Quick Carving events - Saturday at 2pm and Sunday at 1pm. September 4 & 5 - Lock Haven ‘Opens the Streets’ for Business - Main Street, from Jay to Vesper, and Grove St. between Church & Main, is open for pedestrians (closed to vehicle traffic) from 3pm Friday to 9pm Saturday. Restaurants offer outdoor dining and retailers bring their business outside. September 5 & 6 - Lock Haven Area Jaycees Labor Day Celebration - Water St., from Jay to Henderson Sts., Lock Haven. Saturday 11am-7pm; and 11am-9pm Sunday. The power boats won’t make it to town this year, but the Lock Haven Area Jaycees invite people to celebrate the holiday weekend at a Labor Day Celebration along the Susquehanna River! Traditional regatta food vendors serve up your favorite festival foods, plus live music both days. WSQV/WBPZ Radio kicks it off with a live ‘Rock Down in the Lock Down’ broadcast Saturday 11am-2pm and two bands on the floating stage - Probable Cause from 12:30-3:30pm, & Quarterstick from 4-7pm. WQBR Bear Radio hosts a Mini Bear Bash Sunday 3-9pm with bands Jeff Orin & Family; Ridin’ Shotgun; Bill, Bud & a Girl; & the Clark McLane Band. The traditional Labor Day Weekend fireworks take place Sunday at 9pm on the River. New this year, tune into 92.1 FM WSQV to enjoy special music along with the fireworks.
