Snowmobiling Clinton County in the Pennsylvania Wilds
DCNR will provide condition updates on its toll-free, snowmobile hot line, 1-877-SNOMBLE (1-877-766-6253). Recorded messages, providing reports on snow depths and trail conditions across the state, are updated at about noon each Tuesday and Thursday (in season). DCNR also provides weather and condition reports online for state parks and forests.

There's a whole lot of snowmobiling going on in our state parks during the winter. Visitors are permitted to run their snowmobiles after the last day of deer season in December to April 1, as long as there is enough snow cover. Most parks offer designated snowmobile trails for exploration. Others designate large, open spaces for snowmobiling. State parks also provide trailhead access to snowmobile trails on state forest land.
Local State Park Snowmobile Trails
Hyner Run State Park - www.dcnr.state.pa.us/stateparks/parks/hynerrun.aspx This Park is a trailhead for the 64-mile Hyner Mountain Snowmobile Trail and provides plowed parking and unloading areas and unheated restrooms. Snowmobiles may be operated on designated trails and roads from the day following the last deer season in December until April 1, weather permitting.
Kettle Creek State Park - www.dcnr.state.pa.us/stateparks/parks/kettlecreek.aspx Snowmobiles must stay on designated trails and have a current registration. Park trails connect many miles of trails in the surrounding Sproul State Forest.
Little Pine State Park – www.dcnr.state.pa.us/stateparks/parks/littlepine.aspx Ample parking is available throughout the park. There are more than 100 miles of groomed snowmobile trails in the surrounding Tiadaghton State Forest. Snowmobiles may be operated on designated trails and roads from the day following the last deer season in December until April 1, weather permitting. Restrooms are available. Overnight accommodations, food, gasoline and groceries are available throughout the area.
Ole Bull State Park - www.dcnr.state.pa.us/stateparks/parks/olebull.aspx This park provides parking, restrooms and picnic and camping facilities throughout the winter. A snowmobile trailhead provides access to the many miles of state forest trails. Snowmobiles are permitted on marked trails only. The nearest gas station, store and gift shop are one mile north of the park along PA 144 at Oleana. Cross Fork is eight miles south along PA 144 with a variety of services available.
State Forest Snowmobile Trails
Pennsylvania's State Forests offer thousands of miles and hundreds of acres of designated snowmobile areas for exploration. Opportunities range from scenic trails through the woods, to straightaway runs on roadways, to large, open spaces. Trails open the day after the last day of Pennsylvania's regular or extended rifle deer season and close April 1, or earlier as determined by the district forester.
Bald Eagle State Forest - www.dcnr.state.pa.us/forestry/stateforests/baldeagle/index.htm Bald Eagle State Forest has over 300 miles of state forest roads and trails open for snowmobiling. Maps showing the location of the roads and eight access areas are available from the district office. Properly registered snowmobiles may be operated on these roads following the official closing of antlerless deer season.
Elk State Forest - www.dcnr.state.pa.us/forestry/stateforests/elk/index.htm Elk State Forest offers approximately 100 miles of snowmobile trails, as well as 23 miles of cross-country ski trails. Many additional miles of roads and trails are available for cross-country skiing when snowfall is suitable.
Moshannon State Forest - www.dcnr.state.pa.us/forestry/stateforests/moshannon/index.htm Moshannon State Forest provides a 208-mile integrated system of designated state forest roads and specially constructed and groomed snowmobile trails. During winter months, these trails and roads are sometimes inaccessible by conventional vehicles. Maps of the trails are available from the district office.
Sproul State Forest - www.dcnr.state.pa.us/forestry/stateforests/sproul/index.htm Snowmobile riding is available on the Hyner Mountain Snowmobile Trail (64 miles), which is part of a complex of trails in North Central Pennsylvania. Additionally, many state forest roads are open for joint use of snowmobiles and licensed motorized vehicles. Call the snowmobile hotline at 1-877-766-6253 to obtain up-to-date information on trail conditions. Snowmobile trails are open from the end of antlerless deer season until April 1 each year.
Susquehannock State Forest -
www.dcnr.state.pa.us/forestry/stateforests/susquehannock/index.htm Over 250 miles of joint use roads and snowmobile trails are groomed each winter for snowmobiles on the Susquehannock State Forest, all of which are found on the North Central Snowmobile Trails Map. The forest lies just on the eastern edge of the lake effect snow belt. During the winter months there is usually adequate snow for all the various winter activities.
Tiadaghton State Forest - www.dcnr.state.pa.us/forestry/stateforests/tiadaghton/index.htm The Tiadaghton State Forest offers approximately 290 miles of snowmobile trails, as well as over 50 miles of marked and maintained cross-country ski trails. Many additional miles of roads and trails are available for cross country skiing when snowfall is available.

State Game Land 89 - 10 Miles - In the vicinity of Haneyville, from the parking lot located on the Hazard Road off State Route 664, south on the Hazard Road to the Game Lands parking lot near Farrandsville off the Farrandsville Road.
