Snow Shoe Rails to Trails Association membership is required to ride 18.5 miles of this trail. Please visit their website for details (about $ 15 per year). Future plans look to connect these trails with the Bloody Skillet Trails. This trail caters primarily to ATV and off-road motorcycle enthusiasts. It is open to other users as well, but the rough ballast/gravel surface can be tricky. The trail traces the route of the Beech Creek Railroad, which opened in 1884 to serve a local coal mining company. The last train ran in 1990, and by 1994 the right-of-way had been acquired as a rail-trail project.
